In the aftermath of the devastating floods that affected communities across Nuwakot, Helping Heart Nepal has continued its humanitarian response in Battar Bazaar, Nuwakot, providing fresh and hot meals to families and individuals facing difficult days after the disaster.
As part of the ongoing emergency response, Helping Heart Nepal is currently serving around 500 people with fresh, hot meals every day. The initiative is focused on meeting one of the most immediate needs of affected families—access to a safe, nutritious and ready-to-eat meal when normal daily life has been disrupted.
The recent disaster has caused extensive damage across Nuwakot and surrounding areas. Battar Bazaar has also experienced significant disruption, including damage to essential infrastructure and water-supply systems. More than 5,500 households had previously depended on the affected water-supply system serving the Battar area.
For families affected by a disaster, recovery does not begin only with rebuilding homes and infrastructure. It begins with meeting basic needs food, clean water, shelter, non-food items and safety.
Recognising this immediate need, the Helping Heart Nepal team has been working on the ground to ensure that affected people can receive a warm meal during this challenging period. The team continues to coordinate its activities according to the situation and needs of the local community.
Every meal may appear simple, but for a family going through displacement, loss and uncertainty, it can mean something much more a moment of relief, dignity and hope.
This response would not have been possible without the generosity of our donors, partners, supporters, and volunteers.
We sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to this relief effort and placed their trust in Helping Heart Nepal. Your support is reaching people at a time when they need it most. Behind every meal is a donor who chose to help, a volunteer who gave their time, and a team that continues to work despite the challenges on the ground.
To every person supporting this response: thank you for standing with the people of Nepal.
While emergency relief is reaching affected communities, many families still face uncertainty and continuing hardship. The road to recovery will take time, and the need for food and other essential assistance remains.
Helping Heart Nepal is committed to continuing its relief activities for as long as resources allow. We therefore invite individuals, organisations and well-wishers to join this effort. Even a small contribution can help provide a hot meal to someone who may have little else to rely on that day.
Your support can help us reach more families, serve more meals and stand beside more people as they begin rebuilding their lives. Together, we can turn compassion into action.
